Our Mission

The Design Cabin Community C.I.C team have over 5 years’ experience in Product Design, event management and business development. Their team have built 2 successful makerspaces within East London with previous clients.

What is a makerspace?

A makerspace is a collaborative workspace inside a school, library, or separate public/private facility for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools.  These spaces are open to young people, adults, and entrepreneurs and have a variety of maker equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, soldering irons and even sewing machines.[1]

Our Mission:

The mission of The Design Cabin Community C.I.C is to build local wealth, develop individuals’ skills and create local employment.

  • Hyperlocal strategy

  • We aim to have 90% of our staff living or studying in the projects operational area.

Our Vision:

Our vision is to create a fun, interactive, affordable, and accessible space. Bringing all communities together from multiple boroughs and counties. Our space and team will offer educational approaches to help create more employment and business development within the local area.

Our motivator:

Post COVID19, the cost of living has rocketed, with unemployment levels soaring and many people losing jobs within industries that will take several years to recover. Our aim is to support individuals through the product process. This process takes the individual from having an idea, to conducting large amounts of market research, to branding, packaging and physically making a sellable product. We will also aid and guide them with selling their products and building a brand from our facilities.

Our Values:

  • Honesty, integrity and professionalism

  • Transparency in everything we do

  • Accessible to all religions, ethnicities, sexualities and abilities

Our Objectives:

  • Encourage the youth to engage and interact to develop skills and build business acumen.

  • Help the community develop creative skills and guide them to start-up small businesses.

  • Education of business and the creative design process

  • To facilitate the purchase, development and management of creative spaces

  • To promote the creation of businesses and entrepreneurship with the local area

The Design Cabin Community C.I.C exists to support under 30-year-olds in design, technology, business and self expression. We aim to ensure any of our facilities are affordable and accessible to all.
